About Us

300,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the United States.
This tournament is for women who want to make an impact in our community.

We started our event in 2017 when a group of teammates decided to do something about cancer. As a survivor, our founder, Cheri understands the struggle that is faced firsthand and really wanted to do something positive to help others. It is common for friends to reach out and ask her to help someone they know by listening to their concerns and fears and sharing her journey with them as they begin their battle. She has always been someone who wants to GO BIG or go home, so she figured, why not have a bigger impact in the community through a sport that has been a big part of her life for over 40 years? It provides players the ability to help warriors survive, women to develop relationships through sports, and develop our softball community into a nurturing and supportive family.
Our journey began with a standard format competitive softball tournament with the full support of the Marengo Park District. We have since changed the location to accommodate more participants, and also developed an original format to encourage relationship-building by selecting equally competitive teams based on skill level. This format encourages getting to know the people normally on opposing teams and coming together for a common goal. Players are asked about their skill levels and favorite positions at registration and the teams are made shortly thereafter, forming very competitive teams for all. We are proud to have created an amazing social, competitive, and fun day that many have reported back year after year as “the best tournament I play in all year and I wouldn’t miss it for anything”. Don’t miss out on this amazing day!
